Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can you powder coat plastic?
No. The majority of plastics cannot withstand the temperatures needed to cure powder coating, so we will not take the risk in ruining your part.
2. How do I know if the color I want is a Single Stage or 2 Stage?
In the description of the powder you like it will say something along these lines, "To simulate these colors, a silver metallic or "chrome like" base coat must be used", "Illusion colors only activate when the specified top coat has been applied", "Clear-coat is required". Or, something along those lines, then it is a 2 stage color. If it does not say anything about requiring a clear coat or a specific base-coat, then odds are it is a single stage color. If you have a question before ordering, just shoot me an e-mail, and I would be glad to help.
3. Can you powder coat my aluminum frame?
Without a doubt, if it's metal we can coat it!
4. What heat rating is your ceramic coating, and is it durable?
Ceramic coating surprises most customers with its durability, as it does not flake off like the traditional "high temp paint" that you find at the auto parts stores, and can take some abuse when being installed. BUT, still be as careful as possible when doing so! The majority of our ceramic coatings perform to temperatures upwards of 1800 degrees, which is suffice for the majority of applications. If you would like additional information, feel free to e-mail me.
5. What kind of warranty do you have?
There is no warranty expressed or implied. I do, however, examine any part that the coating may have failed on, and will properly fix the coating if I made a mistake in the coating process. Everyone uses and abuses parts differently so I cannot offer a warranty for everything.
6. Will you take apart the parts that I bring to you to coat?
Not unless it is discussed ahead of time. We do offer rebuild services on some products; All rubber, plastic, hardware, etc. must be removed and dis-assembled before bringing them in. Tires must be removed from wheels beforehand, also.
7. Can I ship my parts to you? How do I do so?
Most definitely! Our business was started with mail-in work, so we have been doing this for years. Just contact us ahead of time to let us know that they are on their way.
